La Taverne, Josselin
One of my favourite special places (of which I have many), in Josselin is the Bar La Taverne.
Situated in the Place Notre Dame (just across the square from the church), I always get a good welcome there from Fabien and Sandra, the hosts.
The Girlie and I have been using the bar for quite a while now and, between ourselves, refer to it as Our Bar - I'm not sure what it says about us but we do have quite a lot of Our Bars in Josselin!
We've only eaten there once (on Bastille Day 2008 - see... Bastille Day Photos), but a lot of locals go there for lunch and, of course, it is very busy with English clients during the summer.

The menu looks interesting and reasonably priced.
I just love the atmosphere.
When the weather is good, you can sit outside (as the Girlie and I often do) and watch the world go by.
If it is cold and wet, the inside is welcoming too.
I suppose that the Girlie and I are lucky that we only live five minutes walk from La Taverne.
But then, luck is what you make it, isn't it?
When we first started using La Taverne, Fabian and Sandra tried to speak English to us - they both speak good English but that's not really what we were after.
After a few protestations on our part, they now only speak French to us - and we are far happier for that.
If you are ever in Josselin, I would heartily recommend that you give the bar a try.
I'm sure that you won't regret it.
It's possibly the best place on the planet to sit and just watch the world go by!
Who knows, the Girlie and I might wander past ourselves....
It'd be nice to say hello.
All the best
Keith
