In a mad moment of sociability, last week, I offered the Girlie the chance to bring her son Josh (and his mate Nick), over for the weekend (see previous article).
They woke up at 8am and we (the Girlie and I), shamelessly lied to them and told them it was only 6am.
When, however, we did need to get them up and about (so that we could go to a Vide-Grenier), I had to resort to a dubious and cruel technique (well, have you ever tried to get two young lads out of bed?)

Of course, being the sort of person I am, I had a plan!
The previous night, I had taken a couple of pig's trotters (yum yum), out of the freezer and put them in the fridge so that they would de-frost.
Knowing that most people find the extremities of our piggie friends, rather un-tasteful - I thought that they might come in handy.

The boys were talking about Lego, in their tent - unaware that they were about to have visitors..
I crept up slowly to their tent, trotters in hand - the Girlie busied herself with her camera.
The tent has a few windows - just right for pig's trotters to scratch at!

The boys realised that something was up.
It took them a few seconds for them to realise what it was!
Then, the screams began!

There was a mad scuffle in the tent as first they tried one exit, then the other.
But I was faster than them and chaos ensued!
Well, if you ever want to get two young lads out of bed in a hurry - a pair of pig's trotters are a useful thing to have around!
If you ever want to hear the full repertoire of swear words that two young lads have learned - a pair of pig's trotters are a useful thing to have around!

Here, you can see young lad 1 - exiting the tent at a speed he normally doesn't manage until well after lunchtime!
Young lad 2 wasn't far behind!
They were shaking a bit but... I like to think that it worked up a good appetite for breakfast, for them!
Speaking of that - guess what I'm having for tea?
If you should ever require my Kiddies Waking Up services - just give me a call - I'm sure that we can work out a reasonable fee! Of course, just showing your kids these photos, might mean that I don't have to visit, after all!
