Tranquility

One of the things that I have come to enjoy enormously since moving here is just to sit in my garden and ponder (often with a good book to read.)
I have to admit to not being the world's greatest gardener and, if it were not for the Girlie's constant deadheading (which is a sort of addiction for her), the garden wouldn't look half as good as it does.
Somehow, my brain seems to work better (well, it couldn't work any worse, at the moment), when I am outside and surrounded by flowers.
The scent of the herbs also helps, I think and, being able to pick a couple of ripe cherry tomatoes and a couple of leaves of basil, to munch on, is just the icing on the cake!
It doesn't even have to be my own garden - the Girlie's garden works just as well (as you can see from the photo.)
It's obvious that I'm not alone in enjoying the peace and quiet of my garden. Here you can see the Girlie making herself quite at home - chez moi!
I suppose some of the enjoyment comes from the peace and quiet - some comes from the colour and scent of the plants but a lot of it is the enjoyment of the results of something creative that I have done (albeit with help and advice from the Girlie).
I'm never going to paint a masterpiece, I'll never take a half decent photo but, with my garden I have put a bit of me onto this planet and that makes me unjustifiably proud!
Right - off for another quick (or, rather, slow), ponder in my garden. Enough of this un-healthy computer stuff for today!
