Return of the Cat!
After 8 days away from home, Sammy has finally returned.
On Monday morning, whilst I do doing some work on the computer and the Girlie was in the kitchen, busily peeling garlic, we both heard a "Miaoww"
Sure enough, it was the Sammy beast!
Having said hello, the first thing he did was to rush to the food bowl and gorge himself - "nothing has changed there", I thought to myself!

Having spent over a week scouring the ditches, I really thought that I had lost him for good.
As you can see from these photos, he seems to have lost quite a bit of weight but, in all other respects seems fit and healthy.
He spent a bit of time sniffing about but soon ended up on my knees, surveying his empire - ensuring that nothing un-toward had happened during his absence.
Soon - in best Sammy fashion - he lay down for a snooze after his dreadful experience.
My knees told me that I preferred the newer, lighter Sammy Boy.
I did ask him where he had been but, he wouldn't tell me!
Cats have got to have their secrets, after all!
As you can see, he was rather thirsty.
Having emptied his water bowl he started on the watering can.
I guess it must have been thirsty work - wherever he had been (and whatever he had been getting up to!)
I was, by this time, getting a little bit emotional.
Half of me wanted to put him over my knees and spank him - the other half just wanted to give him a big, big cuddle.
I decided to just let him get on with emptying the watering can!
Soon enough his sister, Cindy, wandered over to see what was going on.
She seemed a bit disappointed to see that it was only her brother back, after a week away - and nothing at all to do with distribution of Prawnies.
She did, however, consent to give him a little kiss - as if to say... "Welcome back fatty - you've lost some weight!"
Epilogue
This morning, my landlady came round to ask me if the cat had returned. When I replied.. "Yes", she said... "Come and take a look at this!"
This was her son cleaning out one of his vans - it was full of cat's hairs! It looks like Sammy decided to take a nap in the van.
Somehow the door must have been closed (they are normally left open to air the inside) and Sammy must have been trapped.
The roofing business that my landlady's son runs was on holiday last week - Sammy must have escaped his "prison" on Monday, when the workers came back and started to load up the vans!
So - have got Sammy cat back - need to buy a bottle of Ricard for landlady's son (as he had to clean out his van) - that is being paid for out of the Prawnie budget! Sorry cats but, if you will cause me all this heartache - you have to pay the price!
I'd just like to say thank you to all the people on Brittany-Friends.com who offered me support and words of kindness during my week when Sammy was not about.
