Wine O’Clock…

things i like Wine OClock... Life in Brittany, France

It seems that it’s often Wine O’Clock at La Maison des Fleurs…

That time of the day when the work is done (or we’ve given up trying)…

Cheers!

World Cup Free Zone!

things i like World Cup Free Zone! Life in Brittany, FranceI did promise myself that I wouldn’t waste any time or effort talking about the disgusting performance of the national football team!

I’m not going to get all depressed about their performance.

Why should I anyway?

After all, I’ve had years of experience supporting a crap team and, in just five weeks and five days, the Premier League starts again!

It could be more pain and misery from Spurs or, it could be a repeat of this……

Too much Rammstein?

A little while back, I was reviewing Candy Froggie’s Lair for A Taste of Garlic and noticed that Candy Froggy was rather keen on one particular band.

A German heavy Metal band called Rammstein.

Although I’m normally more of an Elgar, Mozart and The Nolans type person, I was transifxed.

I decided to investigate further and am now, I’m unhappy to say, unable to drive a car without a Rammstein CD playing!

My favourite song is Frühling in Paris.

The first video is the album version.

The second video show s a live performance of the same song at Paris HQ Live Bercy 09-12-09

Definitely one of their quieter tracks (by a million miles!) – it is one that I have become quite fond of.

Rammstein have been described as making music to invade Poland to!

I prefer to think of it as music to retreat from Stalingrad to or…

music to dismember your babysitter to!

It’s Mothers Day

things i like Its Mothers Day Life in Brittany, FranceAs it’s Mothers Day in France today, I thought that I’d post two ever so cute photos of me when I was a little child – one of which even includes my mother.

The first photo shows me inspecting my (for probably the only time in her life) silent newly born sister.

The second shows me with the same sister who, by now, already has started planning a global takeover strategy!  And don’t those sandals look groovy?

My little sister seen sat next to me went on to grow very long golden hair.  One day (when she was about 3 years old), I chopped it all off for her (I think I was trying to help) – she hasn’t really spoken to me since!

And, to put a smile on your faces (as if those ever so cute photos of me didn’t do the trick), a funny joke (which probably is far too close to the truth to be funny for anyone in the teaching profession!)

things i like Its Mothers Day Life in Brittany, FranceOne early morning, a lady went in to wake up her son. “Wake up, son. It’s time to go to school!”
Son: “But why Mom? I don’t want to go.”
Mom: “Give me two reasons why you don’t want to go.”
Son: “Well, the kids hate me for one, and the teachers hate me, too!”
Mom: “Oh, that’s no reason to not to go to school. Come on now and get ready.”
Son: “Give me two reasons why I should go to school.”
Mom: “Well, for one, you’re 52 years old. And for another, you’re the Headmaster!”

Girlie Thing!

things i like Girlie Thing! Life in Brittany, FranceWhen the Girlie bought this ice scraper glove I thought… “How pathetic, just the sort of thing that a Girlie would buy!”

I do have to say, though,  that….

As I am on the early morning school run, taking the ThirteenYearOld to La Gacilly every day, I have come to appreciate the wisdom that the Girlie often displays!

How sensible and intelligent is this glove?

Whoever designed it should be awarded the Nobel Prize!

I suppose this goes to show that living with me hasn’t addled the Girlie’s brain….

That much!
