After the storm…..

We had a little bit of a storm here in rural Brittany last week …
The greenhouse suffered a little bit…
Even though the summer is over…
The garden is still pretty…
It’s all down to the Girlie, of course…
And long may it last…
The Girlie does like her sit-on lawnmower…
Here she is heading out for what is probably the last cut of the season…
Foot down, Girlie…
Go on – pull a wheelie!
This is the morning view from the back of the house…
Peaceful and inspiring…
No wonder I’m so happy here…
Look, I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this before but…
These are some field mushrooms that we found in the back garden.
The Cep I spotted growing by the side of the road whilst driving to La Gacilly….
That man with the chainsaw came round and, before too long, there were two Ash trees and an Oak lying on the ground!
Guess who’s going to have to move the wood into the woodshed…..
At least we’ll be warm during the winter, I hope!
Perhaps we can avoid having to burn the furniture, just to stay warm, this year?
Some people swear by liniment, others favour massage.
Personally, I think that the best thing for a bad back is carting Tonnes and Tonnes of wood around, the day before!
It works every time for me!
This is the woodshed; pretty isn’t it?
Having already put La Maison des Fleurs on the global tourist map (I believe that we are being considered for World Heritage Site status!) with The Best Fence in Brittany we have decided to go one further (no, I hear you cry, it’s not possible!) by creating The Best Boules Court in Brittany!
We’ve already got an electrical outlet by the proposed site so that means…..
Yes! It’ll be floodlit!
Bugger The Best Boules Court in Brittany! This’ll be The Best Boules Court in The World!
I’m planning to get Madonna and Kylie Minogue over for the grand opening….
As you can see, we’ve already got the outdoor heating sorted for the winter season.
It’s lovely the way the house, all of a sudden, becomes pretty in summer…
It makes all the hard work worth while!
I did suggest to The Girlie that she get some plastic flowers and use those instead of growing her own….
I don’t think she was so impressed with that suggestion…..
I suppose I really should apologise …
For another sunflower post.
But, as I like sunflowers (and am very proud of ours)…
I’m not going to!
Seems strange that a few months ago they were just tiny seeds…
When the jungle was cleared we discovered a shed that had been hidden from view.
We couldn’t find the key so I spent half an hour trying to break the lock!
It was like trying to break into Fort Knox! It almost killed me!
Then The Girlie found the key!
When I’d finished swearing and cursing…
I had a little explore!
We’ve had the land across the road cleared by a man with a chainsaw…
Once the heavy work was over, I came out of hiding to have a little explore…
We decided to get someone in to clear the Jungle across the road from us…
Just in case you weren’t sure where to spend your summer holidays…
Brittany is a real nice place to see!
And there’s always the 21st wonder of the modern world waiting for a visit….
It’s free (unlike many places!)
Change your life – visit The Great Fence of Brittany
It’ll be something you can tell your grandchildren all about (ad infinitum, until they put you in an old peoples home!)
All the best

The Girlie is very proud of her roses…
They make the front of the house look right pretty!
And when The Girlie stands next to the roses…
The front of the house looks doubly right pretty!
One of our guests last week got on very well with the chickies…
And the chickies seemed to like her as well…
No only are we overwhelmed with eggy peggies but…
The plum tree has decided that this year is going to be a bumper year!
I think I need some ideas for what to do with lots of eggs and lots of plums!
