Be scared; be very scared!

family Be scared; be very scared! Life in Brittany, France

Well…

Sooner or later the mourning has to end.

I’d rather that there had been no cause for mourning in the first place but…

That wasn’t to be.

Anyway, life goes on and….

So should Breton Diary!

Even though I’ve got this horrible feeling that there’s another 9 months of misery ahead of me as Spurs gamely try to lose every match they play!

Still, that won’t be quite as traumatic as losing a father (I hope – but then, with Spurs, you never know!)

The picture above shows my brother and sisters (well, some of them, anyway), the day after the funeral!

My brother is no doubt smiling because he is a Chelsea (sarf Lunnon scum) fan and probably knows that Chelsea are going to thrash Spurs (and everyone else) all through the year!

My sisters are smiling because they are Girlies and, as a result, really haven’t got the faintest idea what I’m talking about when I’m talking about football!

And, you know what?

Being a Spurs fan, sometimes I envy that ignorance!

Wouldn’t life be easier if you didn’t know that your team was going to humiliate you at every opportunity?

The FourteenYearOld…

family The FourteenYearOld... Life in Brittany, France

I don’t often talk about the FourteenYearOld but I had these photos lying around and thought I’d use them.

So, for any fans of the FourteenYearOld, here are some photos…

Any susceptible young girlies in the audience might want to look away…

The above photo details the Step-Son (otherwise known as the FourteenYearOld) being rather photogenic…

The 24 Year Old Visits….

family The 24 Year Old Visits.... Life in Brittany, France

The 24 year old recently visited us…

She totally forgot to bring the Spurs scarf and bobble hat that I thought were the only reason for her to visit us in the first place…

She seemed to have a good time…

Here she is trying to take a sneaky photo on her iPhone…

As he is smiling, I think the FourteenYearOld is just happy that it’s not him being photographed!

Or maybe he just had wind?

All the best

Flower thief (or not?)

family Flower thief (or not?) Life in Brittany, France

Whilst he was over here on holiday, Father took a fancy to these flowers at La Gacilly…

He wanted me to steal some cuttings for him…

I conveniently forgot to do so…

If I ever go to prison, I want it to be for a bit more than as a…. “Flower Thief!”

Genetics?

family Genetics? Life in Brittany, France

They say you become your parents, eventually…

And looking at my Father (only eleventy-one years young)…..

I know that I’ve got this to come….

When I’m a grown up, that is!

I suppose it could be worse?

The last supper…

family The last supper... Life in Brittany, France

Well actually, it was the last lunchtime but let’s not get too pedantic about it…

I was due to take Father to the airport and he insisted in having one last bread and cheese meal.

I’d like to apologise to any other cheese lovers who happen to be resident in Brittany (or just visiting.)

I believe that Father did actually buy all this year’s cheese production during his two weeks here.

It did taste nice though!

Father in Vannes

family Father in Vannes Life in Brittany, France

On our second trip to Vannes, Father disgraced himself…

We had Moules Frites for lunch and he couldn’t finish all of his…

I expect they’ll ban him from entering Brittany again, because of that!

family The Father of all storms... Life in Brittany, France

My Father’s name is Klaus…

I’ve seen these photos at La Gacilly many, many times…

I’d never read the bumf, though…

For some reason I did when Father was over here….

Now I know what he was up to in January 2010!

You’re having a laugh…

family Youre having a laugh... Life in Brittany, France

The Girlie took this photo whilst Father was over here on holiday…

I think she’d just told this donkey about my attempts at cooking eels?

Or maybe they were just discussing Spurs’ current form?

Either way, the donkey seemed to find it rather amusing…

Father did buy rather a lot of Garlic whilst he was here…

I don’t know if he just likes the taste or if he has a vampire problem?

Father’s Visit…

Father seemed to enjoy his visit to rural Brittany…

I hope so.

Although I do think that he may have caught the sun a little bit….

Still, you’re only young once!

Breakfast….

family Breakfast.... Life in Brittany, France

Father having breakfast…

This was on the day that he broke the news, after more than 40 years silence, that I had been conceived in Domrémy-la-Pucelle (birthplace of Jeanne d’Arc.)

I think that I’m proud.

After all, there’s only one thing better than being a born a Cornishman…

And that’s being a born a Cornishman who was conceived in France!

The things we talk about, when Father comers to stay…

Cheers

family Cheers Life in Brittany, France

I’d like to say that Father’s visit gave us the perfect excuse to visit Carentoir at Sunday lunchtime for a swift glass of Ricard.

However, I’m all too aware that the Girlie and I don’t really need the perfect excuse to visit Carentoir at Sunday lunchtime for a swift glass of Ricard!

A Family Visit…

family A Family Visit... Life in Brittany, France

The Girlie and I moved from Josselin to La Coudrais about 5 weeks ago.

My sister Briony, her husband Rick and various of their children decided to visit Josselin for a holiday.

Was this just a coincidence, I wondered?

Rather than let them enjoy Josselin in peace, the Girlie and I (and Joshy too), decided to pay them a visit.

Finding that my brother Martin (and I guess he must be Briony’s brother as well???) had already decided to pay them a visit, we realised that peace would be an unknown quantity in Josselin – for a while!

The photo above shows my brother Martin with…. surprise, surprise – a glass in his hand. It’s rumoured that somewhere there exists a photo of Martin not holding a glass. If you see it, grab it quick – it’s worth a bloody fortune!
