Another Week, Another Website….

Well, another week has passed and, with it, a new website has arrived.

This one is a listings website for houses for sale in Brittany.

Although a simple site – I’m especially proud of the rotating fading slideshows – they were a lot of work to get right – no simple wordpress plugin for me; I insist on doing things the hard way!

In a way, this new site is a trial for a national property sales website covering the whole of France.

It is, of course, totally free to advertise your property on A House for Sale in Brittany.

It’s that time of the year again; when the harvest is cut and the hay is baled.

This is one I discovered today.

It led up to a hidden courtyard….

And a house with a blue door….

That I never knew was there.

John (and his brother, Mark), have been staying for a few days…

I think that Gertie has been watching John and trying to copy him…

I’ve been watching too but I haven’t seen John drinking from the watering can…

Are you mating?

The FourteenYearOld (who seems to have, during the last week, somehow to have evolved from the creature we used to know as the ThirteenYearOld) knows to knock on the door when he comes into our office.

Even though it’s next door to his bedroom, I may be on the phone to a client or, the FourteenYearOld’s mother (usually known as The Girlie) and I may be discussing such strange things as “distributed file processing” or  “server side scripting.”

We don’t like interruptions when we’re doing weird and kinky things like that!

We were, however,  both flabbergasted when the FourteenYearOld, having heard strange (and I promise you, work related) groans and moans from the office asked us….

“Are you mating?”

Exactly what are they teaching them at school these days?

And,  can I sit in on a lesson or two, and just look at the pictures?

Plum, Plum, Plum…

No only are we overwhelmed with eggy peggies but…

The plum tree has decided that this year is going to be a bumper year!

I think I need some ideas for what to do with lots of eggs and lots of plums!

They stuck needles in my wrists!

Because I’ve been having some sleep troubles recently…

I had to go into hospital for the night so that they could watch me sleeping.

Or rather, so that their machines could watch me. It’s all done with machines these days!

Apart from the last bit, that is…

The bit where they have to stick Bluddy Ginourmous Needles in my Wrists!

And that, believe me, hurts!

I took these photos when I was partially wired up. I’ve learned form experience that when the nice nurses have finished, I can hardly move!

Off laying?

We thought that the chickies had gone off laying (maybe due to the heat?)

It turned out that that had gone off laying, as in gone off to do their laying elsewhere!

I’ve told then that the next one who fails to deposit her eggs in the Poshest Nesting Box in Brittany will find herself deposited in a crock pot with some nice vegetables and half a bottle of wine!

Apart from Gertie, of course! She’s still allowed to escape and deliver her egg to the front door!

Another Week, Another Website!

Well, another week has passed and I’m happy to be able to realise a long term project by launching….www.FrenchMarketDays.com

I hope that www.FrenchMarketDays.com becomes a resource that people can use whether they live here, or are just visiting for their holiday.

The aim is to accurately describe All the Markets in France.

We’re a way off that but, with 6,800 markets already researched and in the database… we’re off to a good start!

Barbecue with friends

We had some friends staying in the gite as so we invited them round for a barbecue.

We asked them if… “they’d like something to nibble – apricots, soaked in honey – quite why, no one knows – because it stops them tasting of apricots, and makes them taste like honey, and if you wanted honey, you’d just buy honey, instead of apricots, but nevertheless – there we go – yours if you want them.”

Strangely enough, even though both Mac and Lyn thought the apricot and honey business was the real lowpoint of the conversation (and it must really be hard trying to have a conversation with someone who believes that Richard Curtis is the Johnny Hallyday of Scriptwriting), they agreed!
